The vilage of Sayalonga (Malaga), the main producer of loquat in Andalusia, will celebrate this Sunday, May 7, XXXIII edition of the Day of the Loquat, which will distribute 2,000 kilos of this seasonal fruit, as well as liquor and jam made with This product, to which is honored annually in this celebration.
It is planned to attend more than 8,000 people, who will be able to taste muscat sweet wine of the area, jam and liqueur of loquats, as well as about 2,000 kilos of this fruit, originating in China and introduced by the merchant sailors in the Iberian peninsula. Of 2,000 years.
The festive day will begin at 11:00 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m., the proclamation will take place, which this year will be run by the painter Adolfo Ruiz, born in the municipality.
Later on, the Nísperos de Oro will be awarded, with which Sayalonga recognizes the social work carried out by entities and individuals in support of the locality, the region of Axarquía and the province of Malaga.
